Fanfic stuff

current mood: tired

I deleted a few stories from my fanfic reclist because the authors had taken them down. I have a bunch of fics to add, but I'm feeling too lazy to do it right now.

Berlin

So, in case somebody missed my squealing a few months back, I'm going to Berlin next week. I'll be there for four weeks studying German, so I won't be reading or commenting anything online. I will have to use Internet there to apply for university courses, but I'm staying out of fandoms unless it's something really important.

I've started to wonder what sort of roommate I'll have. I'm kind of hoping it would be someone from Nordic countries, England or something like that. If all Italians, Greeks and Spanish and Portuguese people are like the ones who lived in the same block of flats with me last year, all they do is party all night long and make horrible noise when everyone else is trying to sleep. :D I'd prefer someone quiet who wants to visit museums, parks and churches with me.

Oh, and I was reminded of a funny thing I and my friends noticed some time ago. We used to live in the same place with most of the foreign exchange students, and we soon realised that you didn't have to talk to people to know if they were foreign or not. You just had to share an elevator with them. If they avoided your eyes, fidgeted with their fingers and ran away from you as soon as possible, they were Finnish. If they looked at you, smiled and started a friendly conversation, they were an exchange student. :D

I finished the final chapter of "The Monkey's Valet". It's pretty stupid since the story is far from done, but I couldn't resist the pull of those scenes anymore. I only hope they won't feel out of place when I manage to make the actual story reach that point.

And if everything goes as planned, the story will have nineteen chapters in total. Then again, it was originally supposed to have only nine, so it could still get longer than that.

My previous (and first) NaNoWriMo project was a fanfic about a disgraced villain pulling himself back together and starting a better life. I was thinking about doing something else this year, but I was hit by a massive plot bunny when I was driving home today. It's probably pretty lame to use the same premise twice, but at least the fandom, character, time period and plot would be entirely different.

And yes, it would be a Kim Possible fanfic. And no, not about Monkey Fist. I won't say more because if I let it out at such an undeveloped stage, it's going to die.

Edit: Yay, yay, yay! That extra assignement I did changed my Landeskunde grade from two to three. Now I only need to take that grammar exam again and I can start looking at my German grades without shame. :D

I sold my soul to LJ and upgraded my account to the plus stage so that I can try out the Monkey Fist mood theme that I made. I have no idea why this is making me feel so bad. I mean, pretty much every account I have anywhere has ads.

Forgotten magic

I was feeling annoyed today because of several reasons and decided to go and clear my head outside. I took my brother's old bike, jumped on it and rode it to Pitkäkangas. At first I was planning to visit Karhusaari (I bet these names mean so much to you guys... ), but then I spotted a small road that I had never followed before. My curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to have an adventure.

Read about it if you have nothing better to do )

Watch out for the chicken

Weekend, finally. I was lured into working overtime on Thursday, so I did a 14-hour shift at the factory. The final hours were a little tragi-comic because there was something wrong with the machines and all the meat was so bad that we just couldn't do anything about it. So, a piece of advice to all Finns: avoid Atria chicken filets for a while. They're bound to have bones and other stuff in them. :P

When I write fanfiction, I usually plan everything carefully and then write it with no particular passion or fire. It's very, very rarely that I get an idea that just writers itself ("Change of Plans" and "The Flawed Couple Indeed" are such fics). I got an idea like this at work on Wednesday, but I couldn't write it down there. I tried to do it when I got home, but the inspiration had passed and it just doesn't work anymore.

Anyway, I hope I can actually get some real writing done this weekend and reply to all the messages and e-mails I've got. I'll also have to help mum with my sister's graduation next week. And watch some more Heidi.

PS. Go Teräsbetoni. I used to hate our song for the Eurovision contest, but now I've had to listen to it daily at work and my mind has become numb to it. It's actually pretty good.
